The Scott Trophy was previously been played annually on the second Saturday in June but changed to the last Sunday in May from 2009.

The venue rotates geographically from Stonehaven in the east to Braemar in the west and was always played on an 18-hole course. This was amended at the AGM in 2016 - A 9 hole course will be given the option to host the event when their turn comes around.

All 9 clubs in the Deeside League are eligible to take part and also Auchenblae, Balmoral and Braemar.

Teams of 4  play 18 holes of individual stroke play.

The winning team is decided by the lowest gross total from all 4 players. In the event of a tie the winners are decided on a card countback of the combined 4 individual scores.

A further trophy, The Barclay Harvey Trophy, is awarded to the player who has the lowest 18 hole scratch score. In the event of a tie the winner is decided on a card countback.

The Scott Trophy was first contested in 1929 and has been played for annually since that date, except during World War II.   Previously a 36 hole event it was changed to 18 holes in 2013.

The Barclay Harvey Trophy was first contested in 1936.

A record book is held by the League secretary detailing all the scores since 1929.

The 2025 event was held at Stonehaven with Banchory winning the trophy with a score of 288, 9 shots ahead of Peterculter. Lumphanan were 3rd on 304.  8 clubs competed.

The Barclay Harvey Trophy was won by Craig Lindsay (Banchory)  who scored 68  beating by 4 shots John Polson (Peterculter), Blair Milne (Banchory) and Ross McAllan (Stonehaven)

Portlethen will host the 2026 event on 31st May.
